BRACH MODEL, kit 1:12, motor OSSA 250cc, 1970
1:12 scale kit made of polyurethane resin for assembly, gluing, and painting.
Contains steel, metal, photo-etched parts, and decals.
The OSSA 250cc engine that powered the iconic monocoque ridden by the legend Santi Herrero.
The kit accurately reproduces this massive 250cc engine.
Designed by engineer Eduard Giró (son of company owner Manuel Giró), it was a revolutionary motorcycle and was considered the fastest single-cylinder of its time.
Despite boasting an excellent single-cylinder two-stroke engine with rotary valve intake, the motorcycle significantly lacked power compared to its main rivals: YAMAHA, BENELLI, and MZ-, equipped with multi-cylinder engines that developed 20 hp more. Still, the OSSA more than compensated for this disadvantage thanks to its unusual monocoque chassis (in fact, it was the first Grand Prix bike to use this technical solution), as it was around 20.5 kg lighter and its frame was much more rigid than the conventional chassis of the others, thus enjoying superior agility on the track which became decisive. At the same time, Santi Herrero, the company's chosen rider, demonstrated great class and was poised to win the World Championship title for two consecutive seasons (1969 and 1970), until he died in an accident while riding the Monocoque at the 1970 Isle of Man TT, finishing first in the provisional championship standings.
The tragedy struck OSSA so deeply that the brand withdrew definitively from the world of racing and from then on dedicated itself exclusively to commercial production.
Note: This kit is intended for a specialized audience aged 14 and over.
